3D model of residential area in Apeldoorn.
Making a 3D model using the 3D printer (Zcorp), we first made a model in Sketchup. It was a little difficult to get the model from Skechtup ready for printing. We spend a whole day trying to create printable files from the Sketup-file. In the end we used a plugin called Cadspan to create a STL-file. Unfortunately the STL-file does not store color information and we had to recolor all the surfaces separately in Zprint, which was a lot of work.
We finished the model by spraying it with salt water. The salt water gave the model a matt finish and no glue got stuck in the corners. The only disadvantage as we see it by using salt water in stead of glue, is that the model is not so strong and there for breaks easier.
